Competitive Team Update

April 27, 2025

Please take note of the revised schedule for this upcoming Tuesday night (April 29) as well as some sessions that we have put in place for Thursday night (May 1).  These sessions will remain indoors and we will hopefully be outside by the start of the following week once everything dries up.  There may also be an extra session or two added to Wednesday night (April 30) if we happen to line up some gym time.

Revised schedule for this week (indoors at Hernewood)

Tuesday, April 29

5:00 to 6:00 pm - Under 11 girls (Under 9 girls can try out)

6:00 to 7:00 pm - Under 13 girls

7:00 to 8:00 pm - Under 13 boys

8:00 to 9:00 pm - Under 15/18 girls

***  The Under 15/18 boys group does not seem to have much interest at this time.  We have had two sessions and we only have had a couple of people show up/register between the two age groups combined.  For now we will not be hosting any further sessions in the gym/outside unless we happen to have an influx of registrations.

Thursday, May 1

5:30 to 6:30 pm - Under 11 girls (Under 9 girls can try out)

6:30 to 7:30 pm - Under 11 boys (Under 9 boys can try out)

7:30 to 8:30 pm - Under 13 girls

Team outlook for 2025 season:

Under 11 girls - looks like we definitely will have two teams, we will try and have the teams selected by approximately the middle of May and games will likely start either the last weekend of May or first weekend of June.  Games will either be on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings for the summer.  There are a few tournaments that we will look at, would be nice to go to at least one tournament with each team.

***  Under 9 Travel teams:

Once we get the under 11 teams finalized we will then have a couple of tryouts for both the boys and girls under 9 travel team(s).  If we get lots of interest there is nothing stopping us from having two travel teams each for both boys and girls, it will all depend on who comes out.  Please remember that players chosen must commit to taking part in the under 9 community program for the summer.  These teams would hopefully practice every couple of weeks and then would attend a couple of the one day jamboree tournaments as well as hopefully getting a couple of exhibition games lined up.

Under 13 girls - we will have one team for sure.  Final decisions will hopefully be made by about mid-May.  Game night will be Thursday night for the Under 13 girls, not sure yet on practices but will let everyone know as soon as we can.  Games will start probably the last week of May.

Under 13 boys - we will have one team for sure.  Final decisions will hopefully be made by about mid-May.  Game night will be Thursday night for the Under 13 bits, not sure yet on practices but will let everyone know as soon as we can.  Games will start probably the last week of May.

Under 15/18 girls - we are trying very hard to get enough players out to have two under 18 girls teams.  Right now, we are close but we definitely need a few more players to ensure that we have enough players to make this happen.  If we do get two teams then the first division girls would play on Wednesday and the premier girls would play on Tuesday.

Under 15/18 boys - as mentioned above, we have only had a couple of registrations so it is not looking good for this age group unfortunately at this moment.

Senior men’s & Senior women’s - If anyone is interested in playing senior men’s please contact Brian Allain with your name & phone number and he will pass it along to the different people who are organizing each of the teams and they can reach back out to let them know if we have any spots available.
